Henry Tieu: There are huge cannon, small cannons, and ammunitions displaced used to protect the Fort on the Copacabana Beach. The beach is beautiful overview from the Fortress.
Amy Singh: Lovely spot to watch the sunset with great views of Copacabana and the coastline. There’s a small museum (in Portuguese) that gives some interesting historical context, and it was very cool to see how the old military gun operates. Entry is around $2 USD—cash only—so bring some local currency. A peaceful and scenic place to explore away from the crowds.
Aranzazu Aleman: For an unknown reason the tickets were free the day we visit. But even paying the entrance fee this place is worth your money. If you like learning about history this is definitely a place for you.
Andy Maguire: Highly recommended. There are cafes along the sea front within the fort offering great views of Copacabana beach. The history of the Fort is well-preserved and presented in various displays and exhibitions. Make sure you go down the path to the main infrastructure under the main 305mm cannons which shows how life was at the fort.
Michael Cheung: Had a nice drink with a nice view of Rio de Janeiro at Cafe 18 do Forte. Also saw a lot of people enjoying some tasty food, prices are a bit higher but lovely place to eat something and have a good rink
