Dr.T G: My 1 star is about commuting here from the Metro. Do not make my same mistake by exiting Luz metro station onto Luis Washington street. Another reviewer wrote there is an exit that takes you directly to the cultural center. Luis Washington street is not it. The 9 minute walk from the Luz metro station at the Luis Washington exit was a venture into the middle of hell. That's how I felt after my walk today through North Centro, living in Bela Vista for the past 5 months, and growing up in a neighborhood that was sadly ravished by drugs and crackheads in the 80's, so I'm no punk. Use the other exit or take an Uber/taxi.

Edward Rayner: Prepare to spend hours here if you want to truly appreciate the stories and the history. Bring tissues. It's a truly moving place.

Wayne Brosman: Political and modern history museum is great for tourist savy with live Google translate. Bring your backup battery charger and go in the prison cells. Modern art exhibitions not for kids. This is adult content. Drug addicts hassling pedestrians at either end of the block so walk fast.

Red Panda: Truly amazing place, for its historical significance (was the headquarter of the political police who jailed and tortured citizens during the Brazilian dictatorship) but also for its amazing temporary exhibitions spaces at the second and third floors (cf. fotos).
