Laura: Absolutely amazing afternoon with unforgettable views. We went on a Monday and rarely had to wait longer than 10 minutes to get into the cable cars, only on the way down around 6pm was there a longer queue. At sunset they had a DJ playing on the first stop of the cable car. Once you’ve got your time slot you can stay as long as you want. Lots of food and drink options as well

Maui World Travelers: This is your only option for getting up onto Urca Hill (the first mound) and Sugarloaf Mountain, a UNESCO World Heritage site. ACCESS: Ride times up are between 8:00a and 7:30p with the last ride down at 8:00p, about every 20 minutes, but it may depend on the season. Tickets for adults are about $25 for a round trip. CABLE CARS: Capacity is about 25-30 people per car and manned by an onboard operator. Two cars service the base station to Urca. Two additional cars service Urca and Sugarloaf. I'm not sure if they're climate-controlled or not but small windows were popped open for ventilation. The rides were smooth and the cars didn't sway at all. URCA HILL: We didn't spend too much time here as the views aren't as majestic due to its lower elevation of 721 feet, but there's a free museum of the cable cars you can take in, along with observation decks. Crowds here are less than on Sugarloaf. SUGARLOAF MOUNTAIN: Topping out at 1,299 feet is Sugarloaf. The views of the Copacabana, Botafogo and Flamengo areas to the west and Icaraí to the east are superb from its numerous viewing platforms. We stayed for sunset which was amazing. A gift shop and restaurant/bar Clássico Beach Club Urca (see separate review) are here too. OVERALL: Killer views, definitely a repeat if we come back.

MarosH Hudak: Visiting Sugarloaf Mountain (Pão de Açúcar) and taking the cable car ride was one of the highlights of our trip to Rio. We started at the base station and took the first cable car up to the intermediate stop at Morro da Urca, located in a scenic park. From there, we boarded the second cable car to the summit of Sugarloaf Mountain. Since we had purchased our tickets in advance for a specific time slot, we didn’t have to wait long in line. The cable cars are large and accommodate many passengers, but if you want the best views, it’s worth securing a spot near the window. The panoramic views from the top are breathtaking, offering a stunning perspective of Rio de Janeiro, its beaches, and the surrounding mountains. This is definitely a must-visit attraction in Rio, and we highly recommend planning ahead to make the most of the experience!

Nicolas Butterwegge: Super beautiful but very full. We spend more time waiting in lines than actually just relaxing. In total in all 5 waiting lines it was ~ 3 hours. Next time I would do the hike to the first station and not do the gondola.

Erick Ramirez: Spectacular view, very organized place. Check dates for DJ playing as it is a high value added to your visit.
