Amor do Arpoador

Helena Ha-nl Kwon: We got here easily with a regular small car (VW Polo) and loved every moment of our stay. The pousada in Arpoador feels beautifully remote and quiet, yet welcoming and comfortable. For kitesurfing it is perfect with a huge lagoon right in front and several more spots just minutes away. It still feels like a hidden gem with endless space on the water. This was our fourth time in Brazil and we had never seen lagoons this big, with such steady winds and so few people. There are also great little trips nearby, like the dunes and the red birds in the jungle. The restaurant is excellent with a varied menu, and the staff and owner make you feel at home. Rooms are simple, clean and spacious. The shower deserves a special mention: the water pressure is so strong, a real treat after a sandy, salty session, especially if you have long hair. Getting here is easy too. Just ask the pousada for their video with directions, and locals in Tutoia are always happy to point the way.

malene kragh: Overpriced for what is a very basic and rustic pousada. And apparently this is one of the best in Arpoador (horror) Due to a lack of pousadas they can charge what they want. Just manage your expectations before you go. We spent 3 nights in Amor do Apoador and no one ever came to clean our room or empty the toilet bin. I guess this basic service is just not part of the package! The rooms are very basic. Nowhere to put your clothes so we just left them in our suitcase. The AC works well though. There was no hot water so had cold showers every day. And as for the water pressure… The restaurant. Expect to wait 45mins or longer for your food. So suggest ordering and then playing some backgammon or uno while you wait to pass the time. I will say that the food when it did arrive, was excellent. I recommend the Tuna with rice and veg and all the pizzas. The restaurant was however dirty. Especially the table close to the bar with cushions on the bench. I don’t think they have ever been cleaned! There is plenty of staff working there but they lack direction. The owner (Nico) is around but he doesn’t get involved in the running of the place. I genuinely don’t think he cares? In fact I doubt he reads any of the reviews posted here!? He knows he will get business from kitesurfers wanting to explore this new up and coming spot. We got a flat tire on the way there. Nico said he would get a guy to come and look at it. Unsurprisingly no one ever turned up. We asked the following day and he just repeated himself. In the end we drove to a tire place in Tutoia ourselves on the day we left. We won’t be returning to this pousada or Arpoador. The kiting and the pousada was just not worth it.

Antoine Marchal: Very bad experience as the kite school made us pay for a broken equipment while it is supposed to be their own responsibility since the use is under the instructor supervision. Kite surf school is part of Pousada Amor Do Arpoador (same venue, same counter, same staff, most likely same owner).

ernesto p: Fantastic kite location. You can kite with high tide just outside the Pousada or a few hundreds meters away when it’s low tier. Super friendly staff! The structure is new and nice, needs some little improvements on making it great: rooms were not cleaned daily, pool was closed, credit card must be accepted without an extra 5% currently applied (why?). I loved the offer of fruit at breakfast, just need some yogurt and cake to align to Brazilian standard. Overall this place has the potential to become one of the best kite Pousada in the north east!

Raphael Vullierme Groth: Incredible location alone on the lagune facing the nature. The huts are very large and comfortable. It is rustic but nice and facing the ocean. You are really in the nature in the middle of nowhere. Great kite also we had some great morning session at sunrise and afternoon session were a bit weaker in term of wind (early August) Super good food, friendly staff and nico is very helpful always here when needed. Can only recommend to add this stop to you kite trip before it gets a crowded place.
