Felicia Pais Araújo: At this hostel, I felt very unsafe! The owner of the hostel was drunk or high (or both?) and made me feel harassed and extremely uncomfortable. He was very touchy and tried to force conversations to keep talking to you. I heard of many people (especially girls) that had the same experience there. Also, during the night, he was playing loud music and singing/ yelling very loud. It was impossible to sleep. Moreover, the bed was very hard and there are only 2 bathrooms for the entire hostel (which is not enough!)... Breakfast was good and the other employer was nice. However, I would NOT recommend this hostel! I left as soon as I could.

Zoé Balaÿ: Warning for solo female travelers — and all travelers !!! I had a disturbing experience at this hostel. Shortly after arriving, the owner, clearly intoxicated, began to harass me with inappropriate comments and even invited me to his place. When I refused, he told me I was “too young to think for myself” and tried to kiss my hand without my consent. Two guests had to intervene. We felt unsafe and extremely uncomfortable staying there. As noted in other reviews, this is not an isolated incident, it appears to be recurrent behavior. This kind of conduct is completely unacceptable !

Abdulla Almedfaie: Cozy and friendly place. Lucas was very helpful and welcoming, even though I arrived near the end of his shift. One note: the sheets and blankets could be cleaner. Still, I’m glad I stayed here!

Jordi Giner-Baldó: I ended up staying at Onça da Praia hostel longer than expected due to an unfortunate event (lost phone while abroad), but couldn't imagine a better place to stay while solving the subsequent mess: both the owner Wilson and the staff were kind enough to let me use the computer of the reception to contact family and even lent me for a couple of days a spare mobile phone to get started. They also helped by talking in Portuguese where needed, and in general where very easy-going and understanding with the situation. So I can just say thanks for all the help and the patience of having someone in distress around for some days!! Regarding the hostel itself, I found rooms, kitchen and bathrooms extra clean, and the breakfast is simple but has everything you need, including eggs! Rooms are spacious and the terrace is really nice, in general a good place to relax and chill while enjoying the nearby beach. Would come back for sure!

Soph Keegan: The owner was intoxicated. Told me I was beautiful many times, kept kissing my hand, then asked if he could massage my feet… I said no. I stayed in the dorm as I didn’t feel safe being in the common areas.
